Weight Loss Tips

We live in a nation of growing obesity. Statistics indicate that obesity has doubled since 1980. A 2008 report showed that 1.5 billion adults were clinically obese and over 45 million children were obese. There are complications connected to being obese. Approximately 3 million people die yearly from disease brought on or made worse from obesity. These diseases include diabetes, heart disease and cancer.
Practice Prevention: There are many things you can do to control your weight and prevent obesity. It is fundamentally a shift in how you think. You must realize that you have a great deal of power over your own health. Consider the fact that you in part, can control how you age and how you can maintain good health throughout your lifetime. Of course disease can occur to any of us. However you can greatly reduce your risks with a healthy lifestyle.
Physical Activity: Exercise is a very important part of any healthy lifestyle. Exercise will strengthen your body and you will begin to build muscle. Your metabolism will increase because muscle has a higher metabolic rate than fat. So add some strength training routines to your exercise program. You can incorporate 2-3 strength training routines weekly. Only 15-20 sessions can have a huge impact on your physical strength and health. You will begin burning fat and therefore lose weight.
Good Fats versus Bad Fats: There are healthy fats to add to your diet. These include omega fatty acids such as those found in fresh fish. Salmon is has one of the highest levels of good omega fatty acids. 2-3 servings weekly could be very healthy and helpful to your weight loss. Research has shown that monounsatured fats are very effective for weight loss. A good food to add to your diet is avocados. Although not the lowest in calories, avocadoes are extremely nutritious and high in monosaturated fats. Try adding some avocado to a salad or make a guacamole dip to eat with veggie sticks such as celery and carrots. Other healthy food choices for good fats include grass fed beef and extra virgin olive oil. Olive oil has numerous health benefits. It has been shown to increase the fat burning response in the body as well as lower inflammation levels.
Sugar: Sugar is something you definitely want to eliminate from your diet, particularly if you are trying to lose weight. When you consume too much sugar, this signals your body to use insulin to begin burning it off. As a result, your insulin will spike. Whatever isn't used will be converted by your body into fat. Try to limit your sugar intake to no more than 10 percent of your daily calorie intake. So for example if you consume 1500 calories daily, sugar should comprise only 150 of those calories. Always be on the lookout for hidden sources of sugar such as those found in soda and juices.
A Healthy Breakfast: When you are sleeping your metabolism goes into more of a resting state. This is referred to as "catabolism". In order to turn it on as efficiently as possible, you need to eat a good breakfast. Having a protein with breakfast is helpful along with whole grains. A good breakfast choice might be a veggie omelet with whole wheat bread. Or some oatmeal topped with fresh fruit and a protein bar. And remember to start the day with drinking some fresh pure water to hydrate your body.
Eating Styles: Eating smaller "mini meals" is a very effective way to help you lose weight. Eating your meals at consistent times is helpful. Eating every three hours during the day is a good way to keep your body consistently fueled with energy. This will also keep you from overeating. Many people overeat because they starve themselves all day and then they binge on a huge dinner. The whole key to keeping weight off is to keep your metabolic rate as high as you can. Skipping meals actually lowers your metabolism.
Reward System: Everyone once in a while you really need to just reward yourself. If you are too regimented in your eating habits and never allow yourself a little indulgence now and then, one of two things will happen. Either you will end up binging or you will quit and begin to go back to your old habits. It is well known that when you are too restrictive in your diet you will usually binge within a month and potentially gain even more weight.
Supportive Relationships: Being with like minded people who take care of themselves will really help you. If you are with peers who are overweight and have no motivation to get in shape you will probably do the same. We tend to mirror those we associate with. So if this is your situation, why not look to broaden your horizons and meet new and interesting people. You could join a gym, or a local meet up group that does walking, hiking, swimming, dance, etc. This will change your outlook on yourself. Before you know it, you will incorporate new and healthy habits into your own life and be on your way to successful weight loss.
Eliminate Junk Foods: Go through your kitchen and eliminate all of the unhealthy junk foods and processed foods you have around. You will benefit yourself and your family by doing so. If you have easy access to junk foods, the odds are you will eat it. Anytime you feel rushed or upset about something you will reach out to these types of foods. Focus instead on filling your pantry with healthy, wholesome foods. Keep snacks such as fresh fruit and no sugar yogurts in your home.
Water: Water is very important to your good health. You need to stay hydrated. If it is hard for you to drink water, add fresh lemon or lime. Try drinking 4 to 6 glasses per day of water. Drinking water is helpful to weight loss because it keeps you feeling full. An easy way to get your water intake is to bring a few bottles with you to work to have readily available to you. This will lessen the temptation to consume soda or fruit juices that are high in calories and filled with sugar. Remember, whenever beginning any dietary or lifestyle changes, always consult with a medical professional, particularly if you are taking prescription drugs or suffer from any disease or ailment.

Weight Loss Tips That Will Help You to Shed Those Few Extra Pounds

There are many misconceptions surrounding a weight loss program and it is necessary for you to apply logic and think wisely to the advice you get during the weight loss program. Nevertheless, there are information that are usually very true. And the information in this post may really help you to understand a weight loss strategy. At the end of this post you will be able to make use of a weight loss program that works for you effectively.
Reducing the amount of food you eat
Portion control is one of the main factors that affect a weight loss program. You can find it very common among people to eat whatever quantity of food available on their plate, even though they are satisfied. If you are very strict about your weight loss program, then the first thing you must do is to reduce the amount of food you eat.
Things that you must do
One must avoid the intake of both fat and sugar in their diet. This can be accomplished by keeping oneself away from consuming soft drinks. Also one must avoid eating at a fast food, since it may increase your fat and sodium content greatly.lessen or eliminate soda consumption, as it may help greatly in one's weight loss program. Add chili pepper sauce to your food habit, since they increase your metabolism rate to give you more energy while at the same time helping you to get rid of more calories. Also include whole grains in your food diet. They have lot of good things in them which will help you to lose a few pounds.
Be compatible with your schedules
The most important thing you must remember to advance in your weight loss program is to eat food at their respective timings each day. So being compatible with your eating schedules may help you to a large extent in reducing your weight. Everything will seem easy to talk than doing it in real time. Similarly, you will find it easy to talk about a weight loss program, but you may find it a little challenging actually, to get started with the program. So if are looking for a better day to start, start it from today.
Choose wisely
When you buy snacks, make sure that you buy the one which has less fat content. You can choose a baked version of potato chips as they contain less fat rather than the original version of potato chips. Make sure that your total calories intake each day keeps lowering. Choose your snacks and meals accordingly. If you eat a lot, then am afraid, you are in a great trouble. Because consuming more calories than the amount you burn, will prevent you from losing weight.
When you eat too much, you will end up only in adding a few pounds rather than losing a few. So have a food journal by your side which may be an invaluable tool for your weight loss program. The other important thing to shed your weight is to sleep adequately, every night. If you are concerned with your weight loss, then you must at least sleep seven to eight hours every night.
If you try to eat a healthier food diet, then try to lessen the amount of food intake. According to the modern sciences, eating a healthy food diet entirely depends upon the food chemistry and the ingredients present in the food. So if you are concerned with shedding a few pounds, the first advice you must try to follow is to reduce the food intake drastically. While trying to shed weight, exercise at least thrice a week. Set a schedule for your food habit as well as for your exercise regimen. Stay compatible to your diet and exercise schedules; you will automatically lose a few extra pounds.
Last but not the least
The above information will definitely help you to lose weight. Last, but not the least, the initial weight losing process must be a gradual one so as to maintain consistent weight loss. It will make you feel better than never before. So choose your food and exercises wisely, follow it regularly and lead a healthy life.

Japanese Weight Loss Ring Is Not a Horror Film

Now that you have decided to lose weight, you make your preparations. Gym membership? Check. Weight loss program? Check. Ingredients for balanced diet? Check. Weight loss ring? Check - wait. Yes, you have read it right. They actually aids you in burning those fats.
Where did weight loss rings come from? The origin of this product is unknown but its use is very famous in Japan. That is why it is also called Japanese weight loss ring. There are a lot of religious devotees of Buddhism in this country, which tells us the reason why ring for weight loss is popular.
In Buddhism, it is supposed human beings (or any living thing) have pressure points that permits and releases energy. It serves as channels that determine the color and strength of a person's aura. The energy of a person can be affected by external (such as being with a person that has an optimistic disposition) or internal means (such as pondering on pessimistic thoughts).
From this premise, the traditional treatment of acupuncture and acupressure was established. Acupuncture uses needles that are lightly inserted to precise parts of the skin, which is deemed to stimulate the pressure points. Acupressure, on the other hand, is done by massages, strokes, or compressions that apply weight towards the pressure points. It works by the concept of acupressure.
A weight loss ring has a magnet. This is because magnets are believed to discharge magnetic force that executes pressure toward a finger. The invigoration of the fingers' filaments sends chemical reaction to the body, which improves metabolism. This improvement helps the body to better process foods. It enhances distribution of nutrients and prevents storage of fats that aids to the success of losing weight!
How do you use this kind of ring? Just wear them on your fingers! Unlike the standard rings, weight loss rings can be worn in any finger of any sizes. The body of the ring is like a spiraled wire, which allows you to adjust it in your preferred finger.
Each finger targets a body part. If the ring is worn on the thumb, it will have its effect on the face; on the index finger, it is intended for the arm; middle finger, the stomach; the ring finger, the waist; and the little finger, the thighs. It is advisable to wear a ring for weight loss on each finger, if you want to concentrate in toning each part.
Just like any owned jewelry, Japanese weight loss ring should be taken care well of. You can still wear it frequently, but be careful not to soak the ring the water. Otherwise, it will lose its magnetic field and worse, it will accumulate rust-which is going to stain your hand!
This ring is not a one trick pony. It also flaunts as a fashionable jewelry. You can choose any color you want; whichever would suit your style.
Losing weight is not an easy undertaking. The combination of alternative treatments (Japanese weight loss ring) and modern day procedures (exercise program) is not sufficient to burn those fats. Your attitude of the mind-determination and persistence-will make you victorious from burning those fats.

Sleep and Weight Loss

Are you getting enough sleep?  Did you know that sleep and weight loss are linked?
Several studies have linked sleep and weight loss. If you sleep less than six hours a night, you increase your chances of being overweight or obese. The consequences of being obese are significant.  Obesity is strongly related to high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and even some cancers.
Which comes first? Does the lack of sleep lead to obesity or does obesity lead to a lack of sleep? It turns out they feed off of each other.
  • A lack of sleep increases your time awake and therefore increases your chances of eating. Unless you sleep walk, you can't eat while you are sleeping. The midnight snack was invented by people who were awake at midnight.
  • Sleeping less may affect hormones that monitor feelings of hunger and fullness. If your body's signaling devices are telling you that you're hungry more often or affecting when you feel full, you will find it more difficult to eat and drink fewer calories.
  • A lack of sleep may lower a person's basal metabolic rate so that they burn fewer calories than a similar person who sleeps more. That's right! Your body is slowing down in it's bid to recover from the previous day with inadequate sleep.
  • Sleeping deprivation lowers your energy during the day which will lower your desire to exercise. Who wants to exercise when they can barely keep their eyes open or when they would rather take a nap on the couch because they didn't get enough sleep?
  • Unfortunately, your weight gain may hinder your sleep. The excess weight can inhibit your breathing and lower the amount of oxygen you get as you sleep. Sleep disorders such as sleep apnea are more common in obese people than in normal weight persons. Sleep apnea is a disorder that can lead to heart and lung issues.
You may have created a vicious circle. You gain weight as you get less sleep and you find it more difficult to sleep as you gain weight. What can you do about? Below are five tips that may help you sleep more than seven hours a night.
  1. Don't drink caffeine, eat chocolates or eat foods high in sugar after 2:00 in the afternoon. Yes 2:00 PM is arbitrary. Experiment with a cutoff time, but remember, caffeine and sugars will keep you awake.
  2. Don't watch television in bed and turn off your computer and cell phone an hour before going to sleep. Sound and visual stimuli bombard us. It is difficult to rest when your brain is still wired to your electronics. Turn them off and either read, talk or meditate.
  3. Experiment with when you exercise. Try it in the morning and see if it increases your energy and helps you sleep. Or try it at night after dinner and see if that helps with sleep. Either way, exercise as it will use energy, burn calories and reduce stress.
  4. Don't sleep in on weekends. If you can stay consistent with your sleep times on weekends, you will have a better chance of getting to sleep on Sunday night.
  5. Turn your brain off. Write down the items you need to tackle and place them in a drawer for the next morning. Meditate or practice deep breathing and let go of the day's problems. They will still be there in the morning. You can either tackle them refreshed or fatigued.

Discouraged With Slow Weight Loss Results?

Losing weight is a long-term process and requires sustained effort and continual focus on the goal. It also requires daily decisions about food and eating. Days of discouragement, impatience, and frustration are to be anticipated. So how do you handle days when the scale will not budge or when you tire of the effort required? Here are some tricks to keep you on track:
Chunk down! The feeling of overwhelm is an immediate sign that you are looking at too much of the big picture. Perhaps you are focusing on all the weight you have to lose or how much time it will take to get to your goal. Instead, chunk down to focus on the immediate future. You can't lose 20 pounds today or even this week. Shift the focus to today and what you can do now to get to your goal. Each day is one step closer to your weight loss success. Each and every healthy meal you eat makes you that much healthier.
Relax and tell yourself that based upon the amount of weight you want to lose and the place you started at you are exactly where you are supposed to be. Losing weight is a big goal and requires extraordinary effort over time. Plenty of people describe the weight loss process as one of the most difficult endeavors they've attempted. Think of it like training for the Olympics. All the daily efforts are important and the rewards will be well worth it.
What do you need to hear that is motivating? What would a great coach say to you at a time like this? What would a best friend tell you that could make a difference?
"I know you can do this."
"I believe in you! Be patient."
"You have what it takes to do this!"
"Think about what it will be like when you've lost that weight! It will be great."
"You'll get there. Stick with it. You'll be so glad you did when the weight starts melting away."
Discover what is encouraging to you and write the statements on index cards. Refer to your motivating statements just when you start to feel discouraged. You can even post them where you'll see them regularly.
Feelings are oftentimes the result of what we tell ourselves. If you are feeling discouraged or frustrated chances are you are thinking some pretty discouraging thoughts. Perhaps you are saying something like, "This is taking so long; I'll never get there!" or "I can't eat anything I want." Spend some time thinking about the thoughts that get you into the state of discouragement and choose to say something different, something more empowering. Awareness is power which then gives you a choice.
Use solution focused questions. Ask yourself, "What can I do to get through today and feel good about myself?" Tomorrow will be another day with its own challenges and successes.
Redefine success. Think of success in small terms as well as in the attainment of the big goal of losing a set number of pounds. Getting through one day of discouragement is a big deal. Eating healthier for several days is quite an accomplishment. The loss of 1 - 2 pounds each week adds up to lots of weight after several weeks. Any time that you say "No" to a high calorie, high fat food is clearly success. Celebrate every step of the way because it all adds up.
Create leverage. Get clear about the long-term consequences of not losing the weight. What happens if you don't stick with your goals and make the desired changes? What price will you pay in terms of self-esteem and your health? Imagine this possible future in real terms. Ideally, this motivates you away from that future.
Now imagine the future where you reach your goal. How happy will you be in that healthier body? Imagine yourself feeling good. Create a list of all the benefits you get with your goal. Use the negative and the positive to gain leverage and create motivation.
Keep a Gratitude Journal. On a daily basis write down ten things you are grateful for in your life, yourself, and your efforts at losing weight. Write down even the smallest things. This will keep your focus on the positive so you don't lose sight of them.
This long-term goal that you have chosen requires persistence and effort over time. Think of it as a metaphor for building the foundation of a beautiful building. The first layers of brick don't seem like much at first. Some days little progress will be made. Sustained effort will eventually tip the scales and you will see results multiplied. You will be glad you kept your focus and stayed on the path to your goal.

Do-At-Home Weight Loss Exercises for Women

Did you know that doing exercise while managing the diet as well is a secret recipe for most fit people? Weight loss diet is most effective when combined with an exercise routine and vice versa.
People who exercise and don't watch their diet have difficulty losing their weight. This is the reason why you see unfit people struggling at the gym or early walkers at community parks still looking the same size even after days of dedicated exercise routine.
Weight loss is a simple combination of healthy eating and regular exercising. Most women find it easier to diet than exercise simply because controlling what you eat is more convenient than actually taking time out to exercise. Some people see results easily with watching what they eat but most have to start exercising to lose weight or have been strictly recommended by the doctor for better health.
Before we talk about which are the best weight loss exercises for women let us highlight two important benefits of exercising. Working out at least 20 minutes a day helps the body absorb the food better resulting in better regulation of your metabolism. Besides what most people don't know about exercising is that it helps release "happy hormones" in the body that helps naturally stimulate your mood helping you de-stress, reduce anxiety and in general feel good about yourself.
Here are a few do-at-home weight loss exercises that help you get started immediately:
Cardio Training: By far the best exercises to the journey of weight loss for women. Cardio is an aerobic form of exercise that involves your heart working more to pump blood which therefore will burn more calories besides keeping your heart strong. Whether it is floor or step aerobics, cycling, skipping, treadmill walking or elliptical trainer, cardio exercises are an effective way of burning calories but remember that over-training can lead to injury and even make you hit weight loss plateau which is difficult to break.
Running: Running is an excellent cardio exercises. Running with proper hydration can help you shed that extra weight by burning serious calories. A 60 kg person can easily burn 300 calories in 30 minutes.
Ghost / Invisible Skipping: Simplest, yet most effective exercises you can do to burn calories and to increase cardiovascular endurance. Jumping rope can match a total body workout in just 15 to 20 minutes.
Lunges and Squats: They are best for working out both inner and outer thigh. Lunges - a compound leg directly improves your performance of natural, everyday movements besides sculpting your legs. Add variation like side lunges, lunges with rotation or even dumbbell lunges to achieve additional benefits. Dumbbell lunges works on "core" muscles (i.e. abs, oblique's, lower back) to help core strengthening as well.
Glute Kick Back: It is the best butt exercise. When doing glute kick back, make sure to get a full range of motion by bringing your leg as far forward and then extending leg back as far as possible.
Following a simple cardio & strength training routine for about 20 minutes a day is enough to start feeling the difference within a week! Besides it will help boost your immunity, improve your blood flow and make you feel & look younger.
A good way to reduce weight is to get on a weight loss plan that has a balanced diet and an exercise routine that helps you in effective weight loss.

10 Weight Loss Statistics

On the surface, weight loss sounds like a simple concept: eat fewer calories than you burn, and you'll lose weight.
But our world's growing obesity problem has completely changed the way we view weight loss, leading to some truly desperate measures and shocking statistics.
Here are ten of the most startling facts about weight loss:
1. The whole world needs to lose weight.
According to the World Health Organization, 1 billion of the world's inhabitants are overweight. (That's almost equal to the number of people who are malnourished in the world.)
Globally, over 22 million children under the age of 5 are considered overweight. This epidemic is largely due to increased consumption of processed foods high in calories and saturated fat, and a decrease in physical activity.
2. Nearly two-thirds of Americans are overweight or obese.
The World Health Organization estimates that nearly two-thirds of all American adults are overweight. The National Center for Health Statistics recently found that 34% of Americans are clinically obese.
3. 50% of American women and 25% of American men are currently on a diet.
With numbers like the ones above, it's no wonder most Americans feel the need to count calories.
However, society's obsession with thinness comes at a price: Chronic dieting and emerging eating disorders are becoming more common among elementary school children.
4. America's top three killers are linked to obesity.
National Geographic published some eye-opening facts about mortality in the USA.
They found that the top three most statistically likely causes of death were heart disease (with a 1 in 5 chance), cancer (with a 1 in 7 chance), and stroke (with a 1 in 24 chance). All of these have been linked to excess weight.
5. Surprisingly, America isn't the world's fattest nation.
The World Health Organization gives that dubious honor to Samoa, where more than 93% of the population is overweight or obese. The Pacific isle of Kiribati comes next, with an 82% obesity rate.
America rounds out the top three, but is closely followed by Germany (66.5%), Egypt (66%), and Bosnia-Herzegovina (63%).
6. The weight loss industry is fat and happy.
The obesity epidemic might mean misery for some, but it's certainly padded the pockets of the weight loss industry.
In 2007 alone, the American Diatetic Association found that Americans spent $58 billion on weight loss products. Considering that obesity has gone global, you can imagine how lucrative the weight loss industry must be.
7. Over half of the diet industry's claims are false.
As with any booming industry, there are plenty of unscrupulous sellers trying to prey on people's weight loss dreams. The Federal Trade Commission published a study in 2002 which found that 55% of all weight loss claims "strained credibility".
The American Diatetic Association concurs, pointing out the fact that most weight loss products focus on atypical success stories instead of real chances of success.
8. Bariatric surgery doesn't always work.
Discouraged by multiple failed attempts at weight loss, more people than ever are turning to bariatric surgery. However, there is no evidence that gastric bypass or banding result in permanent weight loss.
The University of Virginia conducted a study that revealed gradual weight regain after 6 years post-surgery.
9. Diets don't work either.
The National Institute of Health has estimated that dieters can expect to regain two-thirds of their lost weight within a year of completing their diet plan. These dieters can expect to regain all of their weight, and possibly more, within 5 years.
10. Fortunately, there is a perfect recipe for lasting weight loss.
The National Weight Control Registry tracks 3,000 people who have lost more than 30 pounds and kept it off for more than a year.
They have found that most of the successful dieters have four behaviors in common: they keep a food journal and monitor their weight; they never skip breakfast; they get an hour of exercise almost every day; and they eat diets consisting of 24% fat, 56% carbs, and 19% lean protein.
You can follow that perfect weight loss recipe for yourself and enjoy better health for years to come.

Weight Loss And Other Benefits Of Jogging

One of the most ancient and effective exercise to keep the body fit is jogging. Doctors consider jogging as a cure for many diseases. Jogging keeps one's mind fresh and active together with other parts of the body. The effectiveness of jogging can be realized by the fact that it involves the entire body during the jog.
Simple and Easy
Jogging is considered the simplest and easiest way to lose weight and maintain a high metabolism. There exist wrong perceptions among many people that cutting down on food intake will actually reduce their weight. However, this has been proven wrong as health consultants have consistently advised to eat properly. Eating is a way of staying healthy. It is true that eating more would lead to weight gain, but eating less would not necessarily cause weight loss. It has to be accompanied with some exercises, such as jogging.
Improves Stamina
Jogging simply enhances the appetite and improves one's stamina. Jogging doesn't require a person to go to a gym nor to install expensive machinery at home. It just asks for good shoes, enthusiasm, and, if possible, a partner. Jogging 6 days a week for at least half an hour can help burn enough calories to effectively lose weight. However, consistency and commitment is important to reach the desired goal.
Unlike other exercises, jogging is a fun thing to do. It also improves lung capacity and makes the heart a lot healthier than it is. This means that a person who jogs regularly has more stamina than a person who doesn't. With increased stamina, a person can work for longer and do many different kinds of exercises. It keeps the person healthy and active throughout the day. People who get fatigues easily should consider jogging as part of their everyday routine.
Fights Diseases
Other than weight loss, jogging has many other benefits. It helps one stay away from numerous diseases like diabetes, osteoporosis, heart attacks etc. As it brings all body parts to function, jogging facilitates the supply of oxygen around the human body. By increasing the heart rate of a person, jogging can be very beneficial when it comes to fighting heart diseases. By being a great combatant against all such diseases, it can be said that jogging increases the efficiency of the immune system. It acts an important element of a healthy and active lifestyle.
In the busy lifestyle of the urban man, jogging provides a perfect break from the hectic and demanding everyday routine. Jogging helps relieve stress and provides peace of mind and solace. Studies have also estimated that jogging builds up one's confidence by improving the overall attitude of the person. A useful tip while jogging is to listen to fast music.

Healthy Weight Loss Plan - Food Awareness Part 4 of 4

Wrapping your head around the idea that you need to eliminate Processed Carbs, Trans fats and HFCS is a first step of a Healthy Weight Loss Plan, and it will soon become second nature.
Of course, a great side benefit to all this is expanding your culinary options. A menu and lifestyle built on a foundation of fruits and vegetables is limitless and anything but boring.
But, a Healthy Weight Loss Plan is not just about eating fruits and vegetables. It's about creating an awareness about your place in the world. You can't help but tune into what is really going on.
Healthy Eating Means Healthy Weight Loss
Eating Healthy is about Thinking Healthy-where are those fruits and veggies coming from? And sooner or later, the subject of Organic comes up. Every year Corporate Agriculture sprays millions of pounds of herbicides and pesticides across America, which is totally disgusting in it's own right. But wherever possible, you want to focus on Organic. It is odd-you can buy certified Organic and you can pretty well rest assured it is non-toxic. On the other hand, when it comes to regular produce, you have no clue how much or how little toxic chemicals are on that produce.
There is some information compiled by the Environmental Working Group-a list called the "Dirty Dozen" which details the produce with the highest levels of pesticide residue:
  1. Apples
  2. Celery
  3. Strawberries
  4. Peaches
  5. Spinach
  6. Nectarines (imported)
  7. Grapes (imported)
  8. Sweet bell peppers
  9. Potatoes
  10. Blueberries (domestic)
  11. Lettuce
  12. Kale/collard greens
I know Apples and Sweet Corn are routinely doused with Malathion.
I am surprised Sweet Corn is not on this list.
I always buy Organic apples, spinach and Romaine lettuce. I believe the rest of the list may be available in Organic, depending on your area.
You will notice on the list below-the clean list-number 2 is Sweet Corn. I think it got put on the wrong list. My personal experience over many years: At least 60% of the time it reeks of Malathion.
And Corn growers are notoriously heavy users of toxic chemicals. Sweet corn is anything but clean. If you ever have an opportunity to buy fresh sweet corn just peel back the top slightly like you are checking for ripeness and smell it. Malathion has a very distinctive chemical odor.
Below is a list from the Environmental Working Groups Least Contaminated Produce:
Clean Fifteen 2011
  1. Onions
  2. Sweet corn
  3. Pineapples
  4. Avocado
  5. Asparagus
  6. Sweet peas
  7. Mangoes
  8. Eggplants
  9. Cantaloupe (domestic)
  10. Kiwi
  11. Cabbage
  12. Watermelon
  13. Sweet potatoes
  14. Grapefruit
  15. Mushrooms
Healthy Fats Are Important
In addition to Fresh Fruits and Vegetables, Healthy Fats are also important for a Healthy Weight Loss Plan, burning fat, and building muscle. Healthy Fats, also called Mono Unsaturated Fats, are found in extra virgin olive oil, egg yolks, raw nuts like almonds, cashews, hazelnuts, sunflower seeds, avocados, and coconut oil, peanut oil and sunflower oil. Another good source of healthy fats-grass fed meats.
Don't Forget Quality Protein
Protein is important for controlling blood sugar and insulin levels. Grass fed meats also provide quality protein. Eggs are an excellent protein source, always with yolk -one of the most nutrient dense foods you can eat. Try to get organic eggs for this very important reason-the difference between Organic eggs and factory farm eggs is the ratio of Omega 6 to 3: Factory farm -19 to 1. Organic-1 to 1.
Oh, and eating eggs does not Not NOT raise your cholesterol. In fact, all of what you hear about cholesterol from prescription drug prescribing doctors should be ignored.
Other great Protein sources: free range chicken, grass fed cattle or buffalo, milk, yogurt, cheese, cottage cheese, natural rolled oatmeal, and a whole variety of beans-black, kidney, lima, navy, lentil, and garbanzos.
Sadly, I must mention fishing; or rather overfishing. I no longer consider fish a protein source because of the decimated fish populations. Maybe someday...
I sincerely hope these 4 articles have helped you with your Healthy Weight Loss Plan.

Diet And Weight Loss - 4 Tips Towards Success

A growing epidemic is on the rise, and it's disease is obesity and being overweight. This has lead to a surge in the amount of people that look for all kinds of methods to help them lose weight. This also explains why there have been so many fad diets throughout the recent years. These diets tell people what they want to hear, that they will lose those extra pounds of fat. And that they will do so in a manner that's extremely easy and effective. I hate to break it you but in reality the sellers of these diets are just looking for a quick buck, and these "fad diets" do more harm than good.
It's only natural for a person to want to lose fat quickly, but don't forget that you have to do it in a healthy and successful manner. How many have fallen to these quick weight loss schemes, only to regain all of their lost weight back, and sometimes with the bonus of extra additional weight. However, the dieters that have done so with determination and focus in their approach, not only lose weight in a more efficient and healthy manner, but after they have last that weight they are also more likely to stay at that weight. This may sound difficult to some but it can be done. I will be giving you a few tips in regards to diet and weight loss. These tips will help you to lose weight and make sure that you don't gain the lost weight back!
Diet and Weight Loss Tips
Diet and Weight Loss Tip #1 - Before you start with anything, analyze your situation and set a goal for yourself. Plan how much weight you intend to lose and set a deadline for yourself. Be realistic and don't expect to lose like 40lbs within 1 month. The more weight that you want to lose, the longer your deadline should be. And most importantly be specific when you plan your weight loss goals.
Diet and Weight Loss Tip #2 - You have to understand that you won't be seeing results instantaneously, after all Rome wasn't build overnight! Aim to lose a minimum of 1 lbs a week, up to 5lbs depending on how much you weight. The heavier you are the higher your weight loss should be per week. Be realistic as to what you should expect.
Diet and Weight Loss Tip #3 - Enter the arena well motivated and prepared. Ready yourself mentally and emotionally, this will cause you to handle any potential problems that you might encounter. Get rid of any temptations around you such as Junk Food and your favourite snacks (if they are unhealthy that is). This will cause you to start on the right food and increase your chances of success towards your diets and weight loss success.
Diet and Weight Loss Tip #4 - Ask for support from family and friends. You don't have to lose weight all by yourself. See your doctor, talk to your colleagues and friends about it. They will understand why you refused to join the pizza nights in the office or any similar circumstances. Losing weight together with someone else can be more motivational as well and decrease the chances of giving up.

Is Your Current Thinking Sabotaging Your Weight Loss Success?

With as many as two thirds of us overweight to one degree or another we try different diets and exercise programs without much success. In fact, 95 percent of all diet plans fail to get the people that embark on them any significant weight loss for the long-term.
Many of these people start these programs and very often get some results in the short term.
Unfortunately, however most of these same people end up just a few days/weeks later falling off the weight loss wagon because they are not prepared mentally for the changes they need to make to their lifestyle to maintain their new found weight loss.
To succeed in anything, your head has to be in good shape. You need to believe - and keep on believing - that the changes you need to make are worthwhile. Even the very best diet or exercise program will fail if you haven't fully accepted the life and body changes you need to make to become a slim person.
What happens is without some new inner mind programming nothing has changed on the inside so what happens is that any junk thinking you may be harbouring will derail you time and time again no matter how many diet plans you begin. Mainstream weight loss systems do not take this into account and they can only give you results while you are on the program. But they don't tell you HOW to slick to the program long term and your inner programming is in charge of this.
If you want to succeed at weight loss, you need to cut the "mental fat", and that will lead to cutting the "waistline fat". To do that you need to get to know YOU on a deeper level and look at the patterns and habits in your life that you are dragging around with you that get in the way of your own success.
What is your junk thinking doing to your good intentions?
We can easily build up this 'junk thinking' with misinformation and inherited wisdom about nutrition, dieting and what proper exercise REALLY means. We get all this stuff spinning around in our head mixed together with some plain old self-delusion and 'bingo' we have a recipe for getting and staying stuck in an overweight, unhealthy and unhappy body. That slim, fit, healthy body that we really want remains frustratingly out of reach.
But we can change the way we think so we can 'get out of our own way' and achieve the weight loss success that would be life-changing for us. First, we need to identify the thoughts, feelings, emotions and self-beliefs that are causing the roadblock and change them so they no longer sabotage us at every turn. Then we need to replace them with ones that will serve us better. Only then will you be programmed for getting that new slim body and the good health that goes along with it... permanently...
Once you have dropped new thoughts and ideas into your head you will be amazed at how quickly they take root and little by little you begin to make better food choices, eat less overall and even enjoy exercise.
Losing weight will then happen on autopilot, you will not even need a diet plan. You already know what foods to eat and what foods to avoid and it is simply a matter of allowing that to happen but without the self-sabotage that you normally experience.
Imagine how good it will feel to reclaim that slim trim body? Well, you can have this simply by overwriting old negative mind programming and installing new programming into your subconscious mind that will lead you to the body of your dreams. Sounds easy doesn't it? Well it is, and it works like a treat, and once you get started you will be so grateful to have its power working for you to achieve what you desire.
The idea that your subconscious mind may be actively blocking your conscious efforts to lose weight can be hard to swallow at first. So in addition to revealing my top 4 secrets to effective weight loss, I have included in my free report "Visualization Secrets For Weight Loss Success" a section on how mastering your subconscious mind through visualization can make all the difference to your level of weight loss success.
You can download that report here: http://weightlossmotivationbible.com/freereport
